July 2011
The first day of July saw a MKIII Van go from Inchicore to Limerick Jct and back agan for the purpose of turning the vehicle on the triangle.
Saturday 2nd July saw the spare De-Dietrich set transfer from Belfast York Road to Inchicore works for testing of the vehicles with converted MKIII Gen Van 89605. Along with that there are several photos from Heuston and a trip in the afternoon to Kerry.
Photos from the period 3rd - 10th July include 081 on a late running empty timber from Waterford to Westport on the 6th, 22050 making its first trial on the main line from Heuston to Portarlington on the 7th, along with 074 on a Claremorris - Waterford timber (the train had stabled at Claremorris the previous night due to failure of the empty timber).
Very unusually NIR owned 209 worked the IWT Liner trains on Thursday 7th, returning to Dublin on Friday 8th. I managed to picture it passing Portarlington in between showers of rain.
The 2nd week of July has 209 working Cork line services, photos from Carn, Cherryville, Portarlington and Kildare
On Saturday 16th July the spare Enterprise Set was used to test a converted MKIII Van between Inchicore and Drogheda. The test train was photographed at Claude Road and The Lady's Stairs Balbriggan.
The 3rd week of July has photos from Killenard, Portarlington, Kildare, The LUAS Red Line, Nicholastown, Kilmacthomas, Thomastown, Muine Bheag and Kilkenny.
Highlights include:
- 073 on the Westport - Waterford Timber at Kildare.
- LUAS Trams at various locations between Heuston and Jervis.
- 2701 + 2702 at Nicholastown, 1640 Waterford - Limerick Jct.
- The RPSI Mystery Tour to Kilkenny photographed at Fennistown and Kilkenny.
- 079 Waterford - Portlaoise Steel Train.
