November 2011
Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November 2011:
Pictures from Killarney and Farranfore of 22007 at the start of a weekend visit to Co. Kerry, along with a few pictures of Killarney House in the National Park.
But bigger events were happening in the South East of the Country. With the Dublin - Rosslare line closed at Lansdowne Road due to a damaged river bridge the Rosslare line service was terminating / starting at Bray. With no access to maintenance facilities and the prospect of the line being closed for up to two weeks the decision was made to swap the 3 diesel trains ( 1 x 22000 and 2 x 29000) trapped south of the closure via the mothballed Rosslare Strand - Waterford railway line. The transfers would have to take place over two days with the 22000 being swapped on Friday 4th November and the 29000's being swapped the following day on Saturday 5th November. 22009 replaced 22003, while 29005 + 29027 replaced 29006 + 29018.
Thanks to "Mr. Church" for allowing me to me to use the photographs of the Waterford - Rosslare stock transfers on the website.
Thursday 10th and Friday 11th November 2011:
Pictures from around Dublin including the LUAS Green and Red Line, Heuston, Tara Street, Connolly and Pearse Stations, plus Drumcondra Station and a flying visit to Kildare on the Friday morning.
Thursday 17th November 2011:
One photo from Balally this afternoon of 5020 arriving at the tram stop. The main news of the day was long term stopped unit 22037 returning to traffic working the 1725 Heuston - Limerick. 22037 was the unit involved in the Laois Traincare Depot derailment of 20th January 2010. Three carriages had to be sent to the Railcare Springburn works in Glasgow for repairs to be carried out.
Sunday 20th November 2011:
22037 in the wars with a smashed windscreen photographed working empty from Cork to Laois Traincare for repairs.
Monday 21st November 2011:
A day trip to the Belfast area for 450's and the 80 class Sandite.
Tuesday 22nd November 2011:
Pictures from Connolly and also the Emirates Airline DART which entered traffic today.
Thursday 24th and Friday 25th November 2011:
Pictures from Portlaoise and Portarlington showing new perway equipment. The Sperry Ultrasonic Wagon and the new Spoil Wagons which replace the much loved Barytes train.
Sunday 27th November 2011:
