USA Trip: Seattle 25th to 29th September / 4th October
Pictures from our trip to Seattle between 25th and 29th September 2019.
Day 1 Wednesday 25th September 2019:
After a pleasant journey on the Amtrak Cascades from Portland we arrived into Seattle just before 1200. Bags collected we made our way across town to the Queen Anne area to our hotel to drop off the bags.
Queen Anne is adjacent to the Space Needle so the first stop of the day was to visit this iconic structure built in 1962. After that we hopped on the Monorail into downtown Seattle and explored the City Centre and visited the Pike Market and Waterfront area of the city.
Day 2 Thursday 26th September 2019:
Photos from our second day in Seattle feature a "Ride the Ducks" tour of Seattle. These tours use a former US Army truck that can operate on land and water. After a tour of downtown Seattle the tour heads to Union Lake for a cruise of the lake. Highly recommended if you are ever in Seattle. Later in the day we paid a quick visit to the MoPop museum which is dedicated to popular culture, sci-fi and music icons.
Day 3 Friday 27th September 2019:
We headed out of Seattle on Friday afternoon to visit Bainbridge Island, a 35 minute ferry ride from Seattle.
Day 4 Saturday 28th September 2019:
Today we headed to Paine Field near Everette to take the Boeing Factory tour. At this location they manufacture 747, 767's, 777's and 787's. Sadly no phones, cameras, wallets or bags allowed on the tour of the factory floor.
The epilogue Friday 4th October 2019:
After spending Sunday to Thursday in Vancouver we returned to Seattle on the Thursday night to catch our flight back to Dublin on Friday evening at 1925. Before the end of the holiday we managed to squeeze in a few more sightseeing bits that we didn't get to do on our first visit, namely the Chihuly Garden and Glass tour. Well worth doing if your ever in Seattle. After lunch in Downtown Seattle it was time to head back to the hotel to get the bags and head out to SeaTec Airport to catch EI142 to Dublin.
