RPSI: Branchline Wanderer - Saturday 7th April 2018
The latest RPSI Diesel tour operated from Dublin Connolly and headed towards Waterford where a locomotive change took place.
From here, travelling over the Tipperary branch, we headed to Limerick. Due to a regulation delay at Limerick Jct. we were delayed by 40 minutes, time we didn't make up for the rest of the day. At Limerick we changed locomotives once again before traversing the Nenagh branch to Ballybrophy. At Ballybrophy, the train traveled for a short distance down the Cork mainline as far as Thurles to run around before the tour heads back to Connolly.
Despite the late running in the afternoon, the tour was another great success with 304 passengers travelling on the tour during the day. Money raised from these railtours goes towards funding the restoration of the RPSI's 121 Class loco No. 134 which is currently at Inchicore undergoing overhaul.
