How to use the site?
Photographs on The Wanderer Photographs are divided into several "Folders".
General Iarnrod Eireann and Translink Northern Ireland Railway photos are contained in the year folder e.g. "2018 Photos".
In addition to the year categories, there are several other folders for special events. These are listed underneath:
Featured Gallery: A special folder which will be used to feature various items of interest such as a particular type of Rolling Stock / Railway system or other non railway images.
LUAS: Contains galleries of the Dublin Light Railway System with day to day operations, Line Extensions and Depot visits.
Network Improvements and Official Events: Official railway company events, such as railway \ tram line openings, station openings, new rolling stock Introduction. The category is subdivided into the year the event took place.
Railtour's and Preserved Railways: Contains collections of various railtours on the IE and NI Railway networks. It also contains the Irish Heritage Railway scene with photos from the Downpatrick and County Down Railway, Cavan and Leitrim Railway, Tralee and Dingle Railway, Stradbally and The Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. The category is subdivided into the year the picture was taken.
International Trips: Contains collections of trips outside Ireland to the UK, USA & Europe. The category is subdivided into the year the picture was taken.
Industrial Railways: Contains collections of the Industrial Railways in Ireland including the Bord na Mona narrow gauge system.
Forgotten Railways: Photographs of closed and out of use railway lines.
The Keywords
To assist in finding photographs on the website, the majority of photos have a "keyword" against them.
Sample keywords for I.E. rolling stock are:
* 071 - 071 Class loco.
* 201 - 201 Class loco.
* MKIV - MKIV carriage.
* Cravens - Craven carriage.
* 8100 - 8100 Class EMU.
* 22000 - 22000 Class fleet (to search all sub-fleets).
* 3ICR - 3 car 22000 Class
* 4ICR - 4 Car 22000 Class
* 5ICRPC - 5 car 22000 Class with Premier Class accommodation.
* Liner - IWT or DFDS Container Train.
* Timber - Coillte Pulpwood Trains.
